Frequently asked questions

Will I need an initial sight test?

Yes, We need to test your eyes but also look a lot deeper, contact lens wear is reliant on many factors such as tear formation, corneal health and curvature etc

I’ve had a test recently.

We can work from another prescription but as mentioned above there are many other factors concerned in successful lens wear.

What will I have to pay “up front”?

The initial examination is £20 unless you are entitled to help with prescription charge (please ask)

We will then fit a pair of lenses which you can wear for a week (this trial is completely free)

Only if you proceed with lenses a fitting fee of £18 (£12 for students) will be payable.

What about my current specs?

We can update them but since lens wear will normally cover most of your requirements this probably won’t be necessary yet.

What other discounts will I get?

Once you are having regular supplies of lenses you will be entitled to further discounts on specs and sunglasses.

What about these "lenses from £9.99" offers I see?

Outwardly attractive, you have to take note of the word "from".

Until recently we supplied 2 types of monthly disposable lenses, priced at £13 and £16 per month. About 3% of wearers have the £13 option, why? Simply the £16 lenses are more comfortable to wear.

Contact lenses carry the following costs: Lenses, solutions & case, fitting fee's, check up's with and without lenses make sure the £9.99 includes ALL of these costs.

Lenses by post, that sounds convenient.

Maybe, but you are not keeping up to date with prescription changes, new lens and cleaning developments and most importantly regular checks on the health of your eyes. Great until something goes wrong so it's not something we would advocate unless you have been with us and trouble free for a while.
