My current fee for a sight test is £20 <unless you are entitled to help> The routine runs like this: 1. Firstly we get an idea of your prescription with our electronic autorefractor, this is a computerised form of sight test and gets a pretty accurate measurement in seconds. (I have just upgraded to the latest model which seems to be VERY accurate) 2. Visual field analysis with the Medmont visual field analyser. All this before we enter the testing room. 3. Now we follow a normal sight test routine to assess the focusing and coordination of the eyes. (a) Assess how well you see with and without your current specs. (b)
Perform a sight test using the latest equipment, after years of this:
I now use this:
4. Now I look in the back of your eyes to check for abnormalities and possible diseases. I can take a photograph for your GP or your own record. 5. If you are over 40 I will now measure the pressure in your eyes with an air puff tonometer. This directs a gentle puff of air at the eye and is very simple and quick. 6. It's now time to sit down and discuss my findings and suggest the best course of action / most suitable spectacle correction if required.
